SUMMARY:The Restoration of the tomb of Amennakhte at Deir el-Medine – insights into tomb construction\, wall collapses and earlier excavations
DESCRIPTION:In 2021\, the Universities of Uppsala and Liège (Belgium) jointly launched a restoration project as part of the larger project on Deir el-Medine led by the French Archaeological Institute in Cairo. The presentation will provide you with results on the restorations carried out\, in particular the reconstruction of collapsed walls and a larger part of a facade with the floor above\, the securing of open shafts\, the problems of identifying modern and ancient walls\, details on ancient tomb building as well as with arguments as to why this undecorated tomb is attributed to the necropolis scribe Amennakhte son of Ipuy who was the chief scribe under Ramses III\, IV\, V and VI. \nMed Andreas Dorn\, professor i Egyptologi vid Uppsala universitet.
